What we do

Events

Every year, the Town Council holds a number of civic events: Mayor making and Mayor's Sunday in May or June and Remembrance Day in November being the most notable. Details are in the Calendar of Events.

Parks, gardens and buildings

The Town Council owns and maintains The Castle Gardens, The Bullcroft and The Kinecroft, The Regal Centre, the Town Hall and the Bullcroft Recreation Rooms. Click here to find out more.

Market Place

The Town Council also owns this beautiful space in the centre of Wallingford, which is used for the weekly Charter Market on Fridays, monthly Farmers Markets on Tuesdays and other events. It is also available for other activities by arrangement with us.

Town Information Centre

Formerly the Tourist Information Centre, the Town Council now administers and finances this valuable resource for visitors and residents. The Town Information Centre is located under the Town Hall so it is easy to find.  Click here to find out more.

If you are planning an event you wish to promote via this website, please contact us with the details so that it can be added to the Calendar of Events.

Moorings

We own the moorings next to the Thames Path, close to Wallingford Bridge, and collect mooring fees. Overnight moorings are £5 a night. There is no fee for daytime visitors. The moorings are an excellent place for visitors arriving along the Thames to start a trip around our beautiful town.

Allotments

The allotments to the rear of Fir Tree Avenue in the west of the town are administered by the Town Council. Both full-size and half-size plots are available. The current charge is £18 and £25 per year.  At the moment we have a waiting list for allotments - please contact us.

CCTV cameras

These provide extra security around the town. They are run by South Oxfordshire District Council in conjunction with Thames Valley Police, with the Town Council making a contribution to their running costs.

Town Council Meetings

Dates of full Town Council Meetings are available to view here, meetings of our sub-committees and other Town Council events will soon be available via this site.
