Health Services 

 

 Wallingford has a good range of local health services, with a local Community Hospital (which has both intermediate care and maternity services), a GP surgery and a First Aid Unit. The town also has several dental surgeries, and a range of alternative practitioners. 

The Community Hospital is suported the by the League of Friends,  please click on the link to join and support them.
 

First Aid Unit

This is open from 8.30 am to 6.30 pm Monday to Friday and is located at the Community Hospital site on Reading Road.  It is staffed by an emergency nurse practitioner and a health care assistant and can deal with the following types of injuries: 
  • Simple injuries that cannot be treated/managed with a home first aid kit
  • Cleaning and simple stitching of wounds
  • Insect bites and stings
  • Minor burns and scalds (not involving the face, neck, feet, hands and genital areas)
  • A foreign body in the eye
  • Bumps to the head where there has been no loss of consciousness
  • Bruises
  • Sprains (If the emergency nurse practitioner thinks that you have broken a bone you will be referred onto a minor injuries unit or an A & E department.)

Doctors’ Surgery and Medical Practice

The Wallingford Medical Centre is based in the grounds of the Wallingford Community Hospital in Reading Road, and can be contacted on 01491 835577.
Practice Hours are from 8.30 am to 6.30 pm, Monday to Friday. Out of Hours, you should call 0845 345 8995
